6 Ways to Engage in Personal Growth

While you are building your business, it’s important that you also take time for personal growth. Not only will it make you a better person, but it will make you a better entrepreneur. Here are some of our favorite ways to engage in personal growth.

Reading

Reading is something that we should all do. Depending on what you read, you can learn about new topics or hear new stories. Both help you develop better character and are equally important. Plus reading more allows you to become a better writer. So if you write at all (even for social media posts) reading more can help you.
Try to set a goal to read a certain number of books in a certain amount of time. For example, your goal could be to read one book every two weeks. Make the book something you enjoy or about a topic that is helpful to you. Then make sure you set aside time to read each day. It could be first thing in the morning or before bed.

Podcasts

Podcasts are a great way to learn something or engage in current events. There are podcasts about literally everything, even news. Find a topic you like and search for podcasts about that. Podcasts are great to listen to while working on something that is not thought consuming. So you could listen to a podcast while you’re doing everyday tasks such as answering emails or driving.

Language

If you are working towards becoming a digital nomad, chances are you want to travel to another country. If so, learning a language is a great way to develop personal growth. It allows you to learn a skill that will allow you to better connect with people you meet abroad.
Nowadays, there are many resources available to learn a language. Your local library probably has a whole section of books. Plus, there are apps that can help teach you in fun ways. Duolingo and Memrise are both wonderful options. I’ve been learning German and brushing up on my Spanish with both of these.

Hobby

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Is it sewing? Playing guitar? Or hiking? We all have that one thing that we would love to do on the weekends or the evenings. But sometimes, especially as entrepreneurs, we get busy. Set some time aside once a week, even if it’s just an hour to do something you enjoy. It’ll be relaxing and refreshing. You’ll feel better and be more productive in your other work.

Spiritual Growth

Spiritual growth can be a big part of your personal journey. It’s something we can all do to be more fulfilled people. But, this can also take many forms. If you are religious, you may take some time every day to pray and/or read Holy texts. If you’re not, you have options too. Meditation can be a way for people of any (or no) religion to focus in on the world around them. You can clear your mind and feel more at ease. Even more accessible is journaling. Although it is not spiritual in the traditional sense, writing down your thoughts and feelings can allow you to examine your life in a similar way. It can help you be more introspective and focused throughout your life.

Stay up to Date on Current Events

Keeping up to date on current events is a very practical method of personal growth. It allows you to stay connected to the world around you, develop informed opinions, connect with others over these topics. However, it can also serve an even more practical purpose for travelers. Knowing what is going on around you is crucial to staying safe abroad. You need to be able to make informed decisions about where you are traveling and what you are doing there.
These five methods of promoting personal growth can help you become a more well-rounded person. Do you have any other methods of personal growth that you engage in?
