6 Ways to Earn Easy Supplemental Income

Everyone needs a way to earn supplemental income. This allows you to have a little bit of extra money that you can spend for fun or random purchases. There are numerous ways that you can do this. You could get a second job or start a small business in your free time. I highly recommend pursuing a side hustle.

However, there are also some ways that are super easy to do and don’t take much time at all. All of the ways below are methods that I personally use to earn supplemental income. Some of these take less time to earn money, but none of them take a lot.

Note: This page may include affiliate links. That means if you sign up through this link, I might get a small kick back. However, I only include links to websites that I actually use and trust. I personally use all of the websites/apps below.

Swagbucks

Swagbucks is one way to make supplemental income that I use a lot. It is a site that allows you to do certain little tasks to earn points for gift cards. These can be taking short surveys or clicking through their site to make purchases.

However, the way that I earn most of my points through Swagbucks is by “watching” videos. So essentially, for each video that you play, you get points towards gift cards. You can literally play the videos on your computer (on mute) while you watch tv, make dinner, or do anything else.

Once you earn so many points, you can trade them in for gift cards. It’s totally normal to earn a $25 gift card in a month/month and a half.

MyPoints

MyPoints is very similar to Swagbucks. It has a variety of ways to earn points that you can trade in for gift cards. I have two favorite ways to earn points on MyPoints: emails and coupons.

Every few days, MyPoints sends emails to me. If I open them and click on the link (usually leading to a store’s website like Walmart.com), I earn few points. Maybe that store is having a sale. If so, I might earn additional points if I purchase something from that store. After I click on the email, I delete it. So it literally takes 5 minutes a week.

In addition, MyPoints offers printable coupons that use can use for groceries. If you print coupons, you also earn points. You end up saving immediately on your grocery bill, as well as when you redeem for gift cards.

Ibotta

Ibotta is an app-based way to earn cash back. When you make purchases, you can search the app to see if anything that you bought is there. If so, you scan the product and earn a certain amount of cash back. This varies based on the product: any brand of hot dog rolls might be 25 cents back, but an electronics purchase could be $5.

Essentially Ibotta is like a mixture of coupons and cash back. You get the money back when you cash out, but it is based in real dollar amounts.

If you sign up for Ibotta through my link, you can earn a $10 bonus.

Ebates

I didn’t start using Ebates until on a little while ago. But, it is great so far. Ebates gives you cash back on purchases that you make online.
For instance, I bought shoes from Famous Footwear online and got 6% cash back. In a few weeks, I’ll get a literal check in the mail for that cash back.

The really nice thing about Ebates is that it is easy and they send me actual money. There are browser extensions that you can use to remind you to check out through Ebates.

If you sign up for Ebates through my link, you can earn a $10 bonus.

Shopkick

Shopkick is different than all of the other ways that we talked about so far. Shopkick is an app that will show different products that are in different stores. When you go to a store, you can check the app for what products that are available. Then, you go around the store and scan the bar codes of those products. You don’t have to buy anything. (You can get more points of you buy some products, but don’t have to).

Shopkick is kind of fun to do when you’re out running errands. It’s like a scavenger hunt. And, it’s easy to just check the app and scan whatever things you happen to pass by. Then, eventually, you can redeem for gift cards.

Microsoft Rewards

Microsoft (formerly Bing) Rewards is based around the Bing search engine. You collect points by searching and using the Edge browser, then redeem them for gift cards.

For each search, you get a few points. These searches can be literally everything. Plus, you can double up the points by searching in the Edge browser. Bing also offers points for completing fun little trivia quizzes.

These are the ways that I earn supplemental income in very little time each month. Do you have any other suggestions for earning fun money?
