My Top 5 Free Tools for Small Business Owners

As a small business owner, finding tools that make your life easier is essential. You can increase productivity and focus on what you do best. Here’s a list of my top 5 tools to make owning a business easier!

Note: I use all of these tools personally. So any information is based on my own use and opinions (and their websites). I do not receive any compensation for recommending them to you. Just sharing knowledge!

Pixabay

When you are starting a business, there will be many times that you will need pictures: websites, social media, publications…and the list goes on. Pixabay is one of the places I go to to find high quality pictures to use. These are all free to use under Creative Commons CC0, so you can even use it for commercial uses.

Pexels is very similar to Pixabay. Like Pixabay, it is free to use for commercial purposes as well. The quality of the pictures are always very high. You can even make an account to save your favorites.

Sideline

When I started Events Everyday, I knew I would need a second phone number. It would be a huge hassle for business contacts to be calling my personal cell phone. Sideline helped me solve this. It is an app that adds second line on your cell phone. When you sign up, you can even choose an area code and phone number from the options provided. Although it is a little clunky to use (the app includes ads), it makes calls a lot easier. A paid premium version is also available.

Hootsuite

Hootsuite is my social media managing tool. In their dashboard. you can add your accounts and show various streams. This is helpful to manage everything in one place, especially if you need to switch between accounts in the same platforms. The free version includes up to 3 accounts and can support various platforms. However, my favorite part (and the reason I sought out Hootsuite) is being able to schedule content. Already, I have tweets and posts loaded and ready to go for tomorrow! This is very helpful in batch-tasking. Paid premium versions are also available.

OneNote

OneNote is a digital notebook that I originally began using in college. However, it has since become my go-to for storing all kinds of information. You can create multiple notebooks, tabs, and pages to better organize your content. Plus, notebooks can be shared and edited with others, making it great for collaboration. OneNote is also accessible online and through an app on your smartphone.

I hope these five free tools will help you in your business. Comment below to share with others what the tools YOU use are!
